The next time a blizzard or another emergency hits Massachusetts, there’s a free app to give you the latest updates.
Ping4alerts offers a heads-up to smartphone users about dangers and emergencies that are in close proximity, wherever they may be, at any given moment.
The app allows authorities to reach people — even visitors to their jurisdiction — without knowing their email, street address or phone number, CEO Jim Bender said, and the public can opt in to receive alerts while remaining completely anonymous.
